Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat, cook bacon, turning occasionally, until evenly browned and crispy. (10 minutes) Drain on a paper towel-lined plate. Once cool enough to handle, crumble and set aside.

03

Step

In the same skillet, cook ground beef and onions over medium heat until beef is no longer pink, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks. (10 minutes) Drain any excess grease. Transfer the beef and onion mixture to a large Dutch oven.

04

Step

Stir in the crumbled bacon, pork and beans, barbecue sauce, kidney beans, lima beans, black beans, brown sugar, cider vinegar, liquid smoke, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine all ingredients evenly.

05

Step

Cover the Dutch oven and bake in the preheated oven until bubbling and the flavors have melded together. (1 hour)

For a richer flavor, consider using a combination of different barbecue sauces. A smoky mesquite barbecue sauce paired with a sweet honey barbecue sauce works wonderfully.
Adjust the amount of brown sugar and cider vinegar to your taste preference. For a sweeter dish, add more brown sugar; for a tangier flavor, increase the cider vinegar.
Feel free to add other beans to the mix, such as great northern beans or cannellini beans.
Serve hot as a main course or side dish. It pairs well with cornbread, coleslaw, or grilled meats.
