For an even richer flavor, try using homemade cream of chicken soup. Feel free to substitute other cheeses, such as Fontina or Mozzarella, for the Gruyère. Add a layer of sautéed sliced mushrooms for extra depth of flavor. If the top of the lasagna is browning too quickly, cover it loosely with foil during the last 15 minutes of baking. To make ahead, assemble the lasagna and refrigerate it (covered) for up to 24 hours before baking. You may need to add 10-15 minutes to the baking time.
