Follow The Directions

01

Step
4 mins

Prepare the Asparagus: Set up a steamer by placing a steamer insert into a saucepan and filling with water to just below the bottom of the steamer. Bring the water to a rolling boil. Add the asparagus, cover tightly, and steam until it's bright green and slightly tender-crisp, approximately 2-4 minutes.

02

Step
2 mins

Whisk the Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the reduced-sodium soy sauce and honey until the glaze is smooth and perfectly emulsified. Set aside.

03

Step
2 mins

Prep for Broiling: Position an oven rack about 6 inches from the broiler element and preheat the broiler to high. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and lightly brush it with olive oil to prevent sticking.

04

Step
1 mins

Assemble and Season: Place the salmon fillet and steamed asparagus on the prepared baking sheet. Generously season the salmon and asparagus with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper.

05

Step
5 mins

First Broil: Place the baking sheet under the preheated broiler and cook for 5 minutes. This initial broil will start the cooking process and allow the flavors to meld.

06

Step
5 mins

Glaze and Finish: Remove the baking sheet from the broiler and carefully drizzle about 2/3 of the soy-honey glaze over the salmon and asparagus, ensuring everything is nicely coated. Return the baking sheet to the broiler and continue broiling until the fish flakes easily with a fork and is cooked through, about 3-5 minutes more. Drizzle the remaining glaze over the salmon just before serving for an extra sheen and burst of flavor.

For enhanced flavor, marinate the salmon in the soy-honey glaze for 15-30 minutes before broiling. This allows the flavors to penetrate deeper into the fish.
If you prefer a crispier asparagus, toss it with a little olive oil, salt, and pepper, and roast it alongside the salmon instead of steaming.
Serve immediately with a side of quinoa or brown rice to soak up the delicious glaze. A sprinkle of sesame seeds and some chopped green onions add a lovely finishing touch.
Adjust broiling time based on the thickness of your salmon fillet to prevent overcooking. Salmon is best when cooked to medium, with a slightly translucent center.

I made it with skin-on salmon, and it was crispy and flavorful.

My asparagus was a little overcooked, so I'll steam it for less time next time.

Quick weeknight meal. I used the air fryer instead of the broiler and it worked great!

The glaze is perfect – not too sweet, not too salty. I'll definitely make this again.
