Follow The Directions

01

Step

Prepare the Drumsticks: Place drumsticks on a wire rack set over a baking sheet. This allows for maximum air circulation. Air-dry in the refrigerator for at least 8 hours, or preferably overnight. (8-12 hours)

02

Step

Preheat the Smoker: Preheat your electric smoker to 275°F (135°C). Add your choice of wood chips (applewood, maple, or your favorite fruit wood) according to the smoker manufacturer's instructions. (15 minutes)

03

Step

Season the Chicken: Lightly brush the drumsticks with vegetable oil. This helps the rub adhere and promotes crispy skin. In a large resealable plastic bag, combine the oiled drumsticks with the BBQ rub. Toss to coat evenly, ensuring every drumstick is well-seasoned. (10 minutes)

04

Step

Smoke the Drumsticks: Arrange the drumsticks on the smoker rack, leaving some space between each for even smoke penetration. Smoke until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C), about 2 hours. Use a reliable meat thermometer to ensure accuracy. (2 hours)

For extra crispy skin, increase the smoker temperature to 300°F (149°C) for the last 30 minutes of smoking.
Experiment with different wood chips to find your favorite flavor profile.
Rest the smoked drumsticks for 10 minutes before serving to allow the juices to redistribute.
Serve with your favorite BBQ sauce, coleslaw, and potato salad for a complete BBQ meal.
