For an even richer flavor, try using half-and-half or cream in place of some of the milk. A pinch of sugar can be added to the batter for a touch of sweetness. Feel free to experiment with different types of cornmeal. Stone-ground cornmeal will give a more rustic texture and flavor. Spoon bread is best served immediately, but leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator and reheated.
