Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the self-rising flour and granulated sugar until well combined. Gradually stir in the milk until a smooth batter forms. (5 minutes)

03

Step

Pour the melted butter into a 9x13 inch oven-safe baking dish. Gently pour the flour mixture over the melted butter, ensuring an even layer. (2 minutes)

04

Step

Spoon the sliced peaches, along with their heavy syrup, evenly over the batter. Do not stir; allow the peaches to rest on top. (5 minutes)

05

Step

Bake in the preheated oven until the crust is golden brown and the peaches are bubbly, approximately 50 to 60 minutes. A toothpick inserted into the center of the crust should come out clean. (60 minutes)

06

Step

Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

For an extra layer of flavor, sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg over the peaches before baking.
If you prefer a crispier crust, use slightly less milk.
Fresh peaches can be substituted for canned peaches. Use about 4 cups of sliced fresh peaches and add 1/2 cup of sugar to them. Let them sit for 30 minutes to macerate before adding to the cobbler.
The baking dish will be hot, so be sure to use oven mitts when handling the cobbler.
