For an extra layer of flavor, sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg over the peaches before baking. If you prefer a crispier crust, use slightly less milk. Fresh peaches can be substituted for canned peaches. Use about 4 cups of sliced fresh peaches and add 1/2 cup of sugar to them. Let them sit for 30 minutes to macerate before adding to the cobbler. The baking dish will be hot, so be sure to use oven mitts when handling the cobbler.
