Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat & Prep: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 2-quart baking dish to prevent sticking.

02

Step

Bacon & Aromatics: In a 10-inch skillet, cook the chopped bacon and onion over medium heat until the onion is tender and the bacon turns crispy, approximately 6-8 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute more.

03

Step

Combine & Mix: Transfer the bacon and onion mixture to a large bowl. Add the rinsed and drained navy beans, honey, ketchup, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, cayenne pepper sauce, crushed red pepper, and ground black pepper. Stir well to ensure all ingredients are thoroughly combined.

04

Step

Bake Covered: Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and cover it tightly with aluminum foil.

05

Step

Bake & Thicken: Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking until the mixture is heated through, the sauce has thickened, and it's delightfully bubbly, approximately 30 minutes longer.

For a vegetarian option, omit the bacon and use 2 tablespoons of olive oil to sauté the onion and garlic.
Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper sauce and crushed red pepper to suit your desired level of spiciness.
If you prefer a smoky flavor, add a 1/4 teaspoon of smoked paprika to the mixture.
These baked beans can be made ahead of time and reheated. They taste even better the next day!

Easy to follow recipe, and the results were amazing. My family loved them!

I found them a little too spicy for my taste, so I reduced the cayenne pepper sauce. Next time I will add brown sugar for sweetness.

  • Enola Wehner

I added a touch of molasses for extra depth of flavor. Delicious!
