Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Season the salmon fillets generously with freshly ground black pepper. (2 minutes)

02

Step

Place the seasoned salmon fillets in a shallow 9x13 inch baking dish. Drizzle evenly with olive oil. (1 minute)

03

Step

Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily when gently pressed with a fork. Cooking time will vary slightly depending on the thickness of the fillets. (15 minutes)

04

Step

While the salmon is baking, prepare the citrus balsamic sauce. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the chicken stock, balsamic vinegar, cornstarch, orange juice, brown sugar, and orange zest. (3 minutes)

05

Step

Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium-high heat, stirring constantly. (5 minutes)

06

Step

Continue to simmer, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency. This should take about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat. (3 minutes)

07

Step

Once the salmon is cooked, carefully remove it from the oven. (1 minute)

08

Step

Serve the baked salmon immediately, drizzled generously with the citrus balsamic sauce. Garnish with fresh orange slices for a vibrant touch. (2 minutes)

For enhanced flavor, marinate the salmon in 1 tablespoon of the balsamic vinegar for 30 minutes before baking.
Adjust the amount of brown sugar to suit your taste preferences. For a tangier sauce, reduce the sugar slightly; for a sweeter sauce, add a bit more.
If the sauce becomes too thick, whisk in a tablespoon or two of water or chicken stock to thin it out.
Fresh herbs, such as chopped parsley or thyme, make a lovely addition as a garnish.
