For a richer flavor, use dark brown sugar instead of light brown sugar. Add a pinch of nutmeg to the brown sugar mixture for extra warmth. If you don't have raisins, chopped pecans or walnuts make a delicious substitute. To prevent the top from browning too much, cover the casserole with foil for the last 10 minutes of baking. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
