Follow The Directions

01

Step

Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. (2 minutes)

02

Step

Add ziti pasta and cook until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Reserve about 1/2 cup of pasta water before draining. (10 minutes)

03

Step

While the pasta is cooking, gently heat the tomato basil sauce in a saucepan over medium-low heat. (5 minutes)

04

Step

Stir in the pesto and simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Season with salt and pepper to taste. (3 minutes)

05

Step

Add the drained ziti to the saucepan with the sauce. Toss to coat, adding a little reserved pasta water if needed to reach desired consistency. (2 minutes)

06

Step

Serve immediately, topped with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.

For an extra layer of flavor, try adding a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
Freshly made pesto will elevate this dish, but store-bought works well in a pinch.
If you don't have ziti, penne or rigatoni are excellent substitutes.
Garnish with fresh basil leaves for a pop of color and aroma.
