Follow The Directions

01

Step
5 mins

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil. (5 minutes)

02

Step
10 mins

In a large bowl, gently toss the chopped tomatoes, cubed butter, chopped garlic, and fresh thyme leaves together until well combined. Spread the mixture evenly onto the prepared baking sheet. (10 minutes)

03

Step
1 hrs

Roast in the preheated oven until the tomatoes are slightly charred around the edges and have reduced in size, approximately 1 hour. The butter will melt and infuse the tomatoes with its rich flavor. (60 minutes)

04

Step
10 mins

Carefully transfer the roasted tomato mixture to a high-speed blender. Add the cracked black pepper and kosher salt. Blend until the sauce is completely smooth and velvety. Be cautious when blending hot liquids; start on low speed and gradually increase to high. (10 minutes)

For an even smoother sauce, pass it through a fine-mesh sieve after blending.
Adjust the amount of black pepper and salt to your personal preference.
This sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
Feel free to add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a touch of heat.

The roasting method really brings out the sweetness of the tomatoes. I will never make tomato sauce any other way!
