Adjust the amount of whiskey to suit your taste preferences. For a milder slush, reduce the whiskey by 1/2 cup.
For a sweeter slush, add more sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, to taste before freezing.
If the slush is too hard to scoop, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes to soften slightly.
Feel free to experiment with different types of citrus. Lime or grapefruit can be used in place of lemon or orange for a unique twist.
For a non-alcoholic version, omit the whiskey and substitute with additional strong brewed tea or ginger ale.
