Follow The Directions

01

Step

Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a rolling boil. Cook angel hair pasta in boiling water, stirring occasionally, until al dente, about 4 to 5 minutes. Drain well, reserving about 1/4 cup of pasta water. Keep warm.

02

Step

Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the shrimp and cook, stirring occasionally, until pink and opaque, about 3 to 4 minutes. Transfer the shrimp to a warm plate using a slotted spoon, leaving the buttery juices in the skillet.

03

Step

Reduce heat to medium-low. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook, stirring constantly, until fragrant, about 1 minute. Be careful not to burn the garlic. Add the diced tomato, remaining 6 tablespoons of butter, and fresh basil. Stir well to combine. If the sauce is too thick, add a tablespoon or two of the reserved pasta water until it reaches your desired consistency. Gently stir in the cooked shrimp.

04

Step

Serve immediately over the warm angel hair pasta. Garnish with additional fresh basil leaves and a crack of black pepper. Enjoy!

For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding a pinch of red pepper flakes to the garlic butter sauce.
Fresh, high-quality ingredients are key to the success of this dish. Use ripe, flavorful tomatoes and fragrant fresh basil.
Don't overcook the shrimp, as they will become rubbery. They should be just cooked through and still tender.
Adjust the amount of garlic to your preference. If you're not a fan of strong garlic flavor, use fewer cloves.
A squeeze of fresh lemon juice at the end brightens the flavors even further.
