Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). (5 minutes)

02

Step

Cut each potato in half lengthwise. Then, cut each half lengthwise into wedges, about 1/2 inch thick. Aim for uniform size to ensure even cooking. (10 minutes)

03

Step

In a large bowl, toss the potato wedges with olive oil, cayenne pepper, sea salt, and black pepper. Ensure the potatoes are evenly coated with the spices. (5 minutes)

04

Step

Arrange the seasoned potato wedges in a single layer on a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Avoid overcrowding the pan to promote even browning and crispiness. You may need two baking sheets. (5 minutes)

05

Step

Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 45 minutes, flipping the fries halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy. Check for doneness by piercing a fry with a fork; it should be tender inside. (40 minutes)

06

Step

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Taste and add additional salt if needed.

For extra crispy fries, soak the cut potatoes in cold water for 30 minutes before tossing with oil and spices. This helps remove excess starch.
Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper to suit your spice preference. Start with less and add more to taste.
For a smoky flavor, add 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika to the spice mixture.
Serve immediately for the best crispy texture. These fries are delicious with ketchup, aioli, or your favorite dipping sauce.
