Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a medium, heavy-bottomed saucepan, whisk together the mustard powder, wasabi powder, salt, cayenne pepper, black pepper, honey, and 1/4 cup of the beer. Ensure all dry ingredients are fully incorporated. (5 minutes)

02

Step

Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, chopped onion, and cilantro until evenly combined. (3 minutes)

03

Step

Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. (10 minutes)

04

Step

Reduce the heat to low and simmer, uncovered, for at least 1 to 1 1/2 hours, or until the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency. Stir every 15-20 minutes. Add beer as needed, a few tablespoons at a time, to maintain a consistency slightly thinner than ketchup. (60-90 minutes)

For a smokier flavor, add 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika to the sauce during the initial mixing stage.
Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper to suit your preferred level of spiciness.
The sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. The flavors will meld and deepen over time.

I made this for a BBQ, and everyone raved about it. I added a little more honey to sweeten it up.

The simmering time is crucial. Don't rush it! The longer it simmers, the better the flavors develop.

This sauce is amazing! I used it on grilled chicken, and it was a huge hit. The wasabi gives it a unique kick.
