For a richer flavor, use homemade chicken broth. If you prefer a thicker soup, mash a few of the potatoes against the side of the pot before serving. Adjust the amount of serrano chile to your spice preference. For a milder soup, remove the seeds and membranes from the chile before mincing. Feel free to add other vegetables, such as carrots or celery, to the soup. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave.
