For an even richer flavor, try using a dark beer like a stout or porter. Don't be afraid to experiment with different types of sauerkraut – a Bavarian or caraway sauerkraut would be delicious! If you don't have a slow cooker, you can simmer the brats in a large pot on the stovetop over low heat.
