Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch square baking pan thoroughly. (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a large bowl, combine the oats, brown sugar, whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, and baking powder. (5 minutes)

03

Step

Add the mashed banana to the dry ingredients and mix well, ensuring there are no large lumps. (2 minutes)

04

Step

In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, melted butter, milk, applesauce, and vanilla extract until well combined. (3 minutes)

05

Step

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix. (2 minutes)

06

Step

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. (1 minute)

07

Step

Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the top of the batter. (1 minute)

08

Step

Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. (40-45 minutes)

09

Step

Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares. (60 minutes)

For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate chips.
Add a handful of chopped nuts, such as walnuts or pecans, for extra texture and flavor.
Store leftover brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
For a vegan version, substitute the eggs with flax eggs (1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed mixed with 3 tablespoons of water per egg) and use a plant-based milk and butter substitute.
These brownies are best enjoyed slightly warm.

These were surprisingly good! I was skeptical about the banana, but it added a nice sweetness and kept them moist.
