For an even richer flavor, use browned butter instead of softened butter. Make sure your bananas are very ripe for the best flavor and moisture. If you don't have pecans, walnuts or macadamia nuts would also be delicious. Store leftover cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
