For a smoother apple butter, use an immersion blender to puree the mixture after the initial cook. Be careful when blending hot liquids. Adjust the spices to your liking. For a spicier apple butter, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of ginger. Store the apple butter in sterilized jars in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks, or freeze for longer storage. Sterilize your jars and lids by boiling them in water for 10 minutes. Then, fill the jars with hot apple butter, leaving 1/4 inch of headspace. Wipe the rims clean, place the lids on, and screw on the bands until fingertip tight. Process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.

Jun 27, 2025This recipe is amazing! I made it for my family's Thanksgiving gathering, and it was a huge hit. Everyone loved the complex flavor and the fact that it wasn't overly sweet.

Jun 20, 2025I was a little hesitant to use sugar-free syrup, but it worked perfectly! I couldn't tell the difference, and it saved me some calories. Thanks for the great recipe!
