For the most intense Key lime flavor, use freshly squeezed juice. Bottled Key lime juice can be used in a pinch, but the flavor will not be as bright.

If you don't have an ice cream maker, you can still make this recipe! Pour the chilled mixture into a freezer-safe container and freeze for 30 minutes. Remove from the freezer and stir vigorously with a fork to break up any ice crystals. Repeat this process every 30 minutes for 2-3 hours, or until the ice cream reaches your desired consistency.
A splash of rum or vodka (about 1 tablespoon) can be added to the mixture before freezing to help prevent ice crystals from forming and to enhance the flavor.
