Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Roll out the bread dough into a thin rectangle on a lightly floured surface. Transfer to a baking sheet greased with olive oil. (5 minutes)

02

Step

Place potato slices in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil and cook for 5 minutes. Add bacon lardons to the boiling water and cook for another 3 minutes. Drain well. (10 minutes)

03

Step

While the potatoes and bacon cook, melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until softened and translucent, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in light cream. Season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of ground nutmeg. (8 minutes)

04

Step

Spread the onion-cream mixture evenly over the prepared bread dough. Arrange potato slices artfully over the cream, then sprinkle with cooked bacon lardons. (5 minutes)

05

Step

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and crisp on the bottom. Let stand for a few minutes before slicing and serving. (12 minutes)

For an extra layer of flavor, try using crème fraîche instead of light cream for a tangier taste.
If you don't have smoked bacon, pancetta or even good-quality ham will work well.
Experiment with different toppings! Gruyere cheese, thinly sliced apples, or caramelized onions are all delicious additions.
