Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, salt, onion powder, and garlic-pepper seasoning until well combined and pale yellow in color. (2 minutes)

02

Step

Stir in the Cheddar-Jack cheese until well distributed. (1 minute)

03

Step

Lightly spray a non-stick skillet with cooking spray and set over medium-low heat. Pour the egg mixture into the skillet and cook, gently stirring, until the eggs are set but still slightly moist. (5 minutes)

04

Step

Remove the scrambled eggs to a plate and set aside.

05

Step

Lightly butter one side of each slice of bread.

06

Step

Spray the skillet again with cooking spray. Place one slice of bread, buttered-side down, in the pan.

07

Step

Top with half of the shredded mozzarella cheese, followed by the scrambled egg mixture, and then the remaining mozzarella cheese.

08

Step

Place the second slice of bread on top, buttered-side up.

09

Step

Cook until the bread is toasted and golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Carefully flip the sandwich and cook until the other side is golden brown and the cheese is melted and gooey, about another 2-3 minutes.

10

Step

Transfer the grilled cheese sandwich to a plate and let it cool for a minute before slicing and serving.

For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding a thin layer of Dijon mustard to the inside of the bread before grilling.
Feel free to experiment with different types of cheeses to create your perfect flavor combination. Gruyere, provolone, or even a little bit of sharp cheddar would be delicious additions.
Ensure the heat is not too high to prevent the bread from burning before the cheese melts completely.
Serve with a side of tomato soup or a crisp green salad for a complete and satisfying meal.
