Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). (5 minutes)

02

Step

Lightly grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan with cooking spray. (2 minutes)

03

Step

In the loaf pan, spread ketchup and brown sugar evenly over the bottom. (3 minutes)

04

Step

In a large bowl, gently combine ground beef, half of the French-fried onions (reserve the other half for topping), bread crumbs, eggs, sour cream, milk, French onion soup mix, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and ginger. (10 minutes)

05

Step

Mix the ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can result in a tough meatloaf. (5 minutes)

06

Step

Shape the mixture into a loaf and carefully place it in the prepared loaf pan, over the ketchup and brown sugar. (3 minutes)

07

Step

Sprinkle the remaining French-fried onions evenly over the top of the meatloaf. (2 minutes)

08

Step

Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees F (70 degrees C). Use an instant-read thermometer inserted into the center of the meatloaf to check for doneness. (60 minutes)

09

Step

Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving. This allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a more tender and flavorful meatloaf. (10 minutes)

For extra flavor, sauté one diced onion in butter until softened and golden before adding it to the meatloaf mixture.
Feel free to substitute ground turkey or chicken for the ground beef.
Serve with mashed potatoes and your favorite steamed vegetables for a complete and satisfying meal.
If the French-fried onions start to brown too quickly during baking, tent the meatloaf with foil.
