Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch square baking pan thoroughly. (Prep time: 5 minutes)

02

Step

In a medium bowl, whisk together the white whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Set aside. (Prep time: 3 minutes)

03

Step

In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, stir in the instant espresso powder until dissolved. Add the semisweet chocolate chips and stir continuously until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Remove from heat. (Prep time: 7 minutes)

04

Step

Stir in the granulated sugar and brown sugar into the melted chocolate mixture until well combined. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract. (Prep time: 5 minutes)

05

Step

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix. (Prep time: 3 minutes)

06

Step

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. (Prep time: 2 minutes)

07

Step

Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the top is dry and the edges have just started to pull away from the sides of the pan. Be careful not to overbake for a fudgier brownie. (Bake time: 25-30 minutes)

08

Step

Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares. For cleaner cuts, chill the brownies in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before slicing. (Cooling time: 60+ minutes)

For an even more intense espresso flavor, try using a dark roast instant espresso powder.
If you don't have white whole wheat flour, you can substitute with all-purpose flour.
Add chopped walnuts or pecans to the batter for added texture and flavor.
A pinch of sea salt sprinkled on top of the brownies before baking enhances the sweetness and chocolate flavor.
Store leftover brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
