For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding a pinch of ground nutmeg or cardamom along with the cinnamon. If your pears are particularly firm, you can add a tablespoon or two of water or apple cider to the bottom of the baking dish to create steam and help them soften. Pears can be prepared ahead of time and baked just before serving. Store the prepared pears in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Try different toppings! Walnuts, pecans, or even a sprinkle of granola add a nice crunch.
