Follow The Directions

01

Step
5 mins

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). (5 minutes)

02

Step
15 mins

Prepare the pears: Gently cut off the top quarter of each pear. Using a melon baller or spoon, carefully scoop out the core, creating a well in each pear. Be mindful not to pierce the bottom. Arrange the pears in a shallow baking dish. (10 minutes)

03

Step
5 mins

Fill and flavor: Drizzle maple syrup evenly over the inside of each pear. Place 1 tablespoon of brown sugar and 1 tablespoon of butter into the well of each pear. Sprinkle generously with ground cinnamon. (5 minutes)

04

Step
40 mins

Bake to perfection: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake until the pears are tender and easily pierced with a fork, approximately 35 to 50 minutes, depending on the ripeness and variety of the pears. (50 minutes)

05

Step

Let cool slightly before serving. The pears are delicious served warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Garnish with chopped nuts, a drizzle of extra maple syrup, or a sprinkle of cinnamon for an extra touch.

For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding a pinch of ground nutmeg or cardamom along with the cinnamon.
If your pears are particularly firm, you can add a tablespoon or two of water or apple cider to the bottom of the baking dish to create steam and help them soften.
Pears can be prepared ahead of time and baked just before serving. Store the prepared pears in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
Try different toppings! Walnuts, pecans, or even a sprinkle of granola add a nice crunch.

I added a splash of bourbon to the pears before baking, and it gave them a wonderful warmth.
