Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a medium saucepan, bring water to a rolling boil. Stir in rice, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer until rice is tender and all liquid is absorbed (approximately 20 minutes). Fluff with a fork and set aside.

02

Step

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a medium baking dish (9x13 inch recommended).

03

Step

In a large, heavy-bottomed skillet over medium heat, combine ground beef, celery, onion, bell peppers, and garlic. Cook, breaking up the beef with a spoon, until the beef is browned and the vegetables are softened (approximately 8-10 minutes). Drain off any excess grease.

04

Step

Stir in the cooked rice, crawfish tails, green onions, pecans, and butter into the ground beef mixture. Season generously with Creole seasoning and black pepper. Cook, stirring frequently, until all ingredients are well combined and heated through (approximately 3 minutes).

05

Step

Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading evenly.

06

Step

Bake in the preheated oven until lightly browned and bubbly (approximately 25 minutes).

07

Step

Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

For a richer flavor, consider using a combination of ground beef and ground pork.
Adjust the amount of Creole seasoning to your preference. Some brands can be quite spicy!
Toasting the pecans enhances their flavor and adds a delightful crunch. Toast them in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3-5 minutes, or until fragrant.
Fresh crawfish tails, if available, will elevate the dish. If using fresh, ensure they are properly cleaned before cooking.
For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding 1/4 cup of dry white wine to the ground beef mixture while cooking.
