Follow The Directions

01

Step

Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with waxed paper. (5 minutes)

02

Step

Carefully split each chocolate sandwich cookie using a paring knife, ensuring most of the creamy filling remains on one side. Arrange the cookie halves on a microwave-safe plate. Place a peanut butter cup on the filling-covered side of each cookie half and top with the other cookie half to create a sandwich. (15 minutes)

03

Step

Microwave the cookie sandwiches for approximately 5 seconds, or until the chocolate is slightly softened. Gently press the sandwiches together to ensure the cookie adheres firmly to the peanut butter cup. (5 minutes)

04

Step

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and shortening. Microwave on high for 1 minute. Remove and stir. Continue microwaving in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. (5-7 minutes)

05

Step

Dip each cookie sandwich into the melted chocolate mixture, ensuring it's fully coated. Allow any excess chocolate to drip off before placing the coated 'hockey puck' on the prepared waxed paper-lined baking sheet. Use extra melted chocolate to conceal any fingerprints. (15 minutes)

06

Step

Freeze the 'hockey pucks' until the chocolate has fully hardened, which should take at least 30 minutes. (30 minutes)

For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet.
Add a sprinkle of sea salt on top of the chocolate before it hardens for a sweet and salty treat.
If you don't have shortening, you can use coconut oil or butter as a substitute.
Make sure to not overheat the chocolate in the microwave, or it will burn.
