For a richer flavor, use freshly grated pepper Jack cheese. To prevent the top from browning too quickly, tent the baking dish with foil during the last 15-20 minutes of baking. This dish can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before baking. Add an additional 10-15 minutes to the baking time if baking from cold. Experiment with different types of cheese! Cheddar, Monterey Jack, or even a blend of cheeses would work well. Add some chopped vegetables such as bell peppers, onions, or spinach for a more complete meal.

Jan 11, 2025My family loved this! I used cheddar cheese instead of pepper Jack because that's what I had on hand, and it was still delicious.
