Recipe View 30 mins Chill and Serve (30 minutes): Cover the baking pan with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the dessert to set. Slice and serve chilled. Garnish with chopped nuts or maraschino cherries, if desired.

For a richer flavor, use brown butter for the crust. Simply melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, swirling occasionally, until it turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma. Let cool slightly before mixing with the graham crackers.
If you don't have graham crackers, vanilla wafers or shortbread cookies make a delicious substitute for the crust.
Make sure the custard is completely cool before spreading it over the crust. Otherwise, it may melt the crust and make the dessert soggy.
Fresh pineapple can be used instead of canned, but be sure to drain it well to prevent the dessert from becoming watery.
