Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease and flour (or line with parchment paper) an 8x8 inch baking pan. (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a medium bowl, whisk together the chia seed meal and 1/2 cup of water. Let stand for 5 minutes to thicken, forming a chia egg. (5 minutes)

03

Step

In a separate large bowl, combine the thickened chia mixture, raw sugar, agave nectar, softened vegan margarine, and vanilla extract. Mix well until fully incorporated. (3 minutes)

04

Step

In a separate bowl, whisk together the brown rice flour, almond meal, baking powder, and salt. Add the cocoa powder and whisk again until evenly distributed. (2 minutes)

05

Step

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix. The batter will be thick. (5 minutes)

06

Step

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. (2 minutes)

07

Step

Bake in the preheated oven for 45-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached. (45-55 minutes)

08

Step

Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares. This will allow them to firm up and develop a fudgier texture. (60 minutes)

For an even richer flavor, add 1/2 cup of vegan chocolate chips to the batter.
Store leftover brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
These brownies can also be frozen for longer storage. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and store in a freezer-safe bag for up to 2 months. Thaw completely before serving.
Adjust baking time based on your oven. Start checking for doneness around 45 minutes.
