Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly oil a baking sheet. (Prep time: 5 minutes)

02

Step

Pat tofu dry with a paper towel. Slice in half lengthwise. Cut each half into 1/4-inch pieces, about 14 pieces in total. Place tofu between paper towels and drain, about 20 minutes. (Prep time: 25 minutes)

03

Step

Season tofu with salt and pepper. Let sit for 10 minutes. (Prep time: 10 minutes)

04

Step

Mix cornstarch, paprika, thyme, and seasoned salt together to make cornstarch seasoning. (Prep time: 3 minutes)

05

Step

Pat any excess moisture off the tofu. Sprinkle cornstarch seasoning evenly over top. Arrange on a baking sheet. (Prep time: 5 minutes)

06

Step

Bake in the preheated oven until tofu starts to brown, about 7 minutes. Turn over and continue baking until the upper side is darkened, about 3 minutes more. (Bake time: 10 minutes)

07

Step

Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add tofu and fry until golden-brown, about 2 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels. (Cook time: 4 minutes)

For an extra crispy result, ensure the tofu is thoroughly drained and patted dry before baking and frying.
Experiment with different seasonings in the cornstarch mixture, such as garlic powder, onion powder, or chili powder, to customize the flavor profile.
Serve with your favorite dipping sauce, such as soy sauce, sweet chili sauce, or peanut sauce.

Make sure to really press the water out of the tofu or it won't get crispy!

I used tamari instead of seasoned salt and it was great for a lower sodium option.

I added a pinch of cayenne pepper to the seasoning for a little kick. Will definitely make again!
