Follow The Directions

01

Step
2 mins

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

02

Step
7 mins

Blanch the broccoli: Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the broccoli and cook for 3-5 minutes, until bright green and slightly tender. Drain immediately and set aside.

03

Step
9 mins

Prepare the sauce: In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour, salt, and pepper to create a roux. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the roux is smooth and fragrant. Gradually whisk in the chicken broth, ensuring no lumps form. Continue to cook, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens and comes to a simmer, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in the heavy cream and white wine; continue to simmer for another 2-3 minutes until well combined and slightly thickened.

04

Step
1 mins

Assemble the divan: Arrange the blanched broccoli in the bottom of a 7x12-inch baking dish. Pour half of the cream sauce evenly over the broccoli. Top with the sliced turkey.

05

Step
1 mins

Finish and bake: Stir the shredded Monterey Jack cheese into the remaining sauce in the saucepan until melted and smooth. Pour the cheese sauce over the turkey. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until bubbly and heated through. For a golden-brown topping, broil for the last 2-3 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning.

06

Step
21 mins

Let the dish cool slightly before serving.

For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg or a dash of hot sauce to the cream sauce.
Feel free to substitute other cheeses, such as Gruyere or Swiss, for the Monterey Jack.
If you don't have white wine on hand, you can substitute chicken broth or a splash of lemon juice.
For a healthier version, use low-fat milk or cream and reduce the amount of butter.
The divan can be assembled ahead of time and refrigerated. Add about 10 minutes to the baking time if baking from cold.
