Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a medium bowl, gently combine the tuna, mayonnaise, chopped egg, sweet onion, pickle chips, and salt. Mix until just combined. (5 minutes)

02

Step

Place the tomatoes on a cutting board. Carefully make slits from the top, working your way towards the bottom, to create partial wedges. Gently open the tomato and fill each with the tuna-egg salad mixture. (10 minutes)

03

Step

Lightly dip the banana slices in lemon juice to prevent browning. Thread a toothpick through a banana slice, a pineapple chunk, and a strawberry. Repeat with the remaining fruit to assemble the kebabs. (10 minutes)

04

Step

Take 1 carrot and 1 cucumber. Slice into approximately 3/4-inch thick circles. Using a small, sharp knife, carefully carve each carrot slice into the shape of a tulip. Trim the cucumber slices into delicate leaf shapes. Thread a cucumber 'leaf' onto a toothpick, then carefully insert a carrot 'tulip' on top. Repeat with the remaining leaves and tulips. (20 minutes)

05

Step

Slice the remaining carrot and cucumber into 1/2-inch thick slices. Use a mini flower-shaped vegetable cutter to create miniature carrot and cucumber flowers. (10 minutes)

06

Step

Place the freshly peeled, hot hard-boiled egg into a heart-shaped egg mold. Slowly and tightly close the lid. Submerge the mold in a bowl of ice-cold water and let it sit for 10 minutes. Remove the egg and gently drain on a paper towel. (15 minutes)

07

Step

Arrange the filled tomatoes, fruit kebabs, tulip skewers, carrot and cucumber cut-outs, heart-shaped egg, and a scattering of black olives artfully in your bento box. (10 minutes)

For a vegetarian option, replace the tuna with mashed chickpeas.
Get creative with your fruit kebab combinations! Grapes, melon, or kiwi would also be delicious.
Make the tuna salad and vegetable cut-outs the night before to save time in the morning.
A sprinkle of paprika or fresh herbs adds visual appeal.
