Follow The Directions

01

Step
1 mins

In a medium saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, being careful not to burn, about 1 minute. Pour in the vodka, increase heat slightly, and let it simmer until most of the alcohol has evaporated, approximately 8-10 minutes.

02

Step
5 mins

Stir in the diced tomatoes (with their juices), dried basil, sugar, oregano, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer until the sauce thickens slightly and the flavors meld, around 5 minutes. Remove from heat.

03

Step
1 mins

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and melted butter until well combined. Gradually pour this creamy mixture into the tomato sauce, stirring constantly until the sauce is a uniform color and texture.

04

Step
6 mins

Return the saucepan to medium-low heat and gently simmer the sauce, stirring occasionally, until it reaches your desired consistency, about 5-7 minutes. Be careful not to boil.

For an extra layer of richness, consider adding a tablespoon of tomato paste along with the diced tomatoes.
Fresh basil can be substituted for dried basil; use about 1 tablespoon of chopped fresh basil and add it towards the end of cooking.
A pinch of red pepper flakes can add a subtle kick to the sauce.
Serve over your favorite pasta – penne, rigatoni, or spaghetti all work well. Garnish with fresh parsley and grated Parmesan cheese.
