Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a large bowl, gently combine the sliced frankfurters, pork and beans, butter beans, chili beans, and chopped onion. (5 minutes)

03

Step

In a separate small bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, dried oregano, and white vinegar until well combined. Pour this mixture over the bean and frankfurter mixture in the large bowl. Gently stir to ensure all ingredients are evenly coated. (3 minutes)

04

Step

Transfer the mixture to a lightly greased 9x13-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly. (2 minutes)

05

Step

Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until the casserole is heated through, bubbly around the edges, and the sauce has thickened slightly. (60 minutes)

06

Step

Let the casserole rest for 5-10 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to meld further and the sauce to thicken slightly more.

For a richer flavor, consider browning the sliced frankfurters in a skillet with a little olive oil before adding them to the casserole.
Adjust the amount of brown sugar to your liking. If you prefer a less sweet casserole, start with 1/4 cup and add more to taste.
Feel free to experiment with different types of beans. Kidney beans, pinto beans, or cannellini beans would all be delicious additions or substitutions.
A pinch of smoked paprika can add a lovely smoky depth to the casserole.
Serve with a side of crusty bread or cornbread for soaking up the delicious sauce.
