Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a sturdy pint glass, combine the sugar, mint sprigs, and 1 fluid ounce of club soda. Gently muddle the mint and sugar mixture to release the mint's fragrant oils. Avoid over-muddling, which can make the mint bitter. (Approximately 2-3 minutes)

02

Step

Squeeze both halves of the lime into the glass. Lightly drop one of the lime halves into the mixture (the spent lime hull adds extra flavor).

03

Step

Add the rum to the glass and stir well to combine all the ingredients. (Approximately 1 minute)

04

Step

Fill the glass completely with crushed ice.

05

Step

Top with the remaining 1 fluid ounce of chilled club soda.

06

Step

Garnish with a fresh mint sprig. Gently slap the mint sprig between your hands to release its aroma before placing it in the glass. Serve immediately and enjoy!

For a sweeter Mojito, increase the sugar to 2 1/2 tablespoons.
Experiment with different types of rum to find your favorite flavor profile. Aged rums will add a richer, more complex flavor.
If you don't have crushed ice, you can use regular ice cubes, but the drink will be more diluted.
To make a non-alcoholic Mojito (a 'Nojito'), simply omit the rum and add a splash of lime juice or sparkling water to compensate for the lost liquid.
