For a richer flavor, try browning the ground beef in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan. A pinch of red pepper flakes adds a nice subtle heat. Grated Parmesan cheese is the perfect finishing touch.
A deeply comforting and flavorful spaghetti, reminiscent of classic home cooking, elevated with careful technique.
In a medium skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until softened and translucent (approximately 5 minutes). Add the ground beef and brown, breaking it up with a spoon. Stir in salt and turmeric (approximately 8 minutes).
In a small bowl, dilute the tomato paste with water. Pour the mixture into the skillet with the beef (approximately 2 minutes).
Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
While the beef mixture simmers, cook spaghetti in a large pot of boiling salted water according to package directions. Drain well, reserving about 1/2 cup of pasta water (approximately 10 minutes).
Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the beef mixture. Toss to combine. If the sauce is too thick, add a little of the reserved pasta water to reach your desired consistency.
Cover and cook over medium heat for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the flavors have melded together beautifully. Serve hot.
