Follow The Directions

01

Step

Prepare the Swiss chard: First, wash and dry the chard thoroughly. On a cutting board, separate the stems from the leaves. Chop the stems into 1/4-inch thick pieces. Stack the chard leaves, roll them tightly into a cylinder, and slice crosswise into 1/2-inch ribbons.

02

Step

Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add half the olive oil (1.5 tablespoons).

03

Step

Add the chopped chard stems to the hot oil and cook, stirring occasionally, until they begin to soften, about 2 minutes.

04

Step

Add the sliced chard leaves to the skillet with the stems. Cook and stir, allowing the leaves to wilt down slightly, about 3 minutes.

05

Step

Drizzle the remaining olive oil (1.5 tablespoons) over the chard and stir to coat evenly. Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until the leaves are tender and fully wilted, about 3-4 minutes.

06

Step

Remove the skillet from the heat. Immediately sprinkle with kosher salt and squeeze the juice from half a lime over the chard. Stir to distribute the salt and lime juice evenly.

For a more intense lime flavor, add a little lime zest along with the juice.
A pinch of red pepper flakes can add a subtle kick to this dish.
Serve immediately for best flavor and texture.

This is a great way to use up Swiss chard from the garden.

I didn't have lime, so I used lemon juice. It was still very good!

Simple, healthy, and flavorful - what more could you want?

The stems take a little longer to cook than the leaves, so cooking them separately is key.

The lime juice really brightens up the flavor of the chard.
