Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease baking sheets. (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a medium bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg. Set aside. (5 minutes)

03

Step

In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1 1/2 cups of sugar until light and fluffy using an electric mixer. (5 minutes)

04

Step

Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in the sour cream and lemon extract until well combined. (3 minutes)

05

Step

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix. (5 minutes)

06

Step

Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 3 inches between cookies. (10 minutes)

07

Step

Bake for 4 minutes, then remove from oven and sprinkle the tops of the cookies with the remaining 1 tablespoon of sugar. Add chopped walnuts and raisins. Return to the oven and bake for another 3-4 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. (8 minutes)

08

Step

Transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool completely. (10 minutes)

For a richer flavor, use brown butter instead of regular softened butter.
Feel free to experiment with other extracts, such as vanilla or almond.
Store cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
