In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and baking soda. Drizzle in 6 tablespoons of the melted and cooled butter. Using your hands, gently mix to distribute the butter evenly throughout the dry ingredients. (5 minutes)

Create a well in the center of the bowl. Add the sour cream and sliced scallions to the well. Using a wooden spoon, mix until just combined, ensuring no dry spots remain. The dough will be shaggy. (3 minutes)

Drop 1/2-cupfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving at least 1 1/2 inches of space between each biscuit. (5 minutes)

For an even richer flavor, try using brown butter instead of melted butter.
If you don't have Hungarian hot paprika, smoked paprika or a pinch of cayenne pepper will also work well.
These biscuits are best served warm, straight from the oven.
