Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the mascarpone cheese, sugar, and amaretto liqueur until the mixture is smooth and velvety. (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a separate chilled glass or metal bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream until soft peaks form. Ensure the cream holds soft mounds when the beater or whisk is lifted. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture, being careful not to deflate the cream. (10 minutes)

03

Step

Pour the cold espresso into a shallow bowl. Quickly dip 12 of the lightly toasted ladyfingers into the espresso, ensuring they are moistened but not soggy. Arrange the dipped ladyfingers in an 8-inch square baking pan, creating a base layer. (5 minutes)

04

Step

Spread half of the mascarpone mixture evenly over the layer of espresso-soaked ladyfingers. Using a fine grater, grate one square of the unsweetened chocolate over the mascarpone layer, creating a delicate chocolate dusting. (5 minutes)

05

Step

Repeat the dipping process with the remaining 12 ladyfingers and arrange them as a second layer on top of the chocolate-dusted mascarpone. Spread the remaining mascarpone mixture over the second layer of ladyfingers and grate the remaining square of unsweetened chocolate over the top. (10 minutes)

06

Step

Cover the tiramisu with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the tiramisu to set completely. (120 minutes)

07

Step

Before serving, dust the top with additional cocoa powder or grated chocolate, if desired. Cut into squares and serve chilled. Enjoy this taste of Italian indulgence!

For a richer coffee flavor, use a dark roast espresso.
If you don't have amaretto, cognac or a coffee liqueur can be substituted. You can also use amaretto extract instead of amaretto.
For a non-alcoholic version, use amaretto extract (about 1 teaspoon) and strong brewed coffee in place of the amaretto liqueur and espresso, respectively.
Lightly toasting the ladyfingers prevents them from becoming too soggy when dipped in espresso.
For an extra touch of elegance, garnish individual servings with fresh berries or a sprig of mint.
