For best results, use ripe but firm avocados. Overripe avocados will become mushy when tossed. Adjust the amount of jalapeño pepper to control the heat level. For a milder salad, remove the seeds and membranes from the jalapeños before mincing. If you're not serving immediately, wait to add the avocado until just before serving to prevent browning. You can also toss the avocado with a little extra lime juice to help preserve its color. Feel free to add other fresh ingredients, such as corn kernels, black beans, or cucumber, to customize your salad. This salad is excellent served with tortilla chips, grilled chicken or fish, or as a topping for tacos and burritos.

Apr 14, 2025Be careful with the salt! Start with a little less and adjust to your taste, especially if your avocados are already salty.
