Follow The Directions

01

Step

Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add the farfalle pasta and cook according to package directions, about 10-12 minutes, or until al dente. Reserve about 1/2 cup of the pasta water before draining.

02

Step

While the pasta is cooking, melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Add the heavy cream and garlic cloves. Gently simmer for 2-3 minutes to infuse the cream with garlic flavor. Remove and discard the garlic cloves.

03

Step

Return the drained pasta to the pot. Pour the Parmesan cream sauce over the pasta. Season generously with freshly ground black pepper. Add the grated Parmesan cheese.

04

Step

Toss continuously until the cheese is melted and the sauce evenly coats the pasta. If the sauce is too thick, add a little of the reserved pasta water until it reaches your desired consistency.

05

Step

Serve immediately, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese.

For a richer flavor, use freshly grated Parmesan cheese instead of pre-grated.
Add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the cream sauce for a touch of heat.
Consider adding sauteed mushrooms, spinach, or grilled chicken for a more substantial meal.
Reserve extra pasta water! It's starchy and will help the cheese and cream adhere to the pasta.

The garlic really makes a difference! Don't skip that step. I also used a microplane to grate the Parmesan for a finer texture.

Reserving the pasta water is key! It really helps to create a creamy sauce.

I didn't have heavy cream, so I used half-and-half and it still turned out great, just a bit lighter.

Next time, I'm going to try adding a pinch of red pepper flakes for a little heat.

I added some sautéed mushrooms and spinach – it was a delicious and easy way to sneak in some veggies.
