Evenly divide and sprinkle brown sugar in each muffin cup. Evenly divide and drizzle butter over brown sugar. Place pineapple tidbits and 1 cherry on brown sugar mixture. Pour cake batter over pineapple tidbits. (10 minutes)

Bake in the preheated oven until golden and tops spring back when lightly pressed, 15 to 20 minutes. (20 minutes)

For an extra touch of flavor, consider adding a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the brown sugar mixture.

To check for doneness, insert a toothpick into the center of a cupcake. If it comes out clean, they are ready.
