Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). (5 minutes)

02

Step

Grease a 9-inch baking dish with 1 tablespoon of the softened butter. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of sugar evenly over the buttered dish. (3 minutes)

03

Step

Rub the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter onto the cut sides of each pear half. Arrange the pears, cut-side down, in the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining 1 tablespoon of sugar over the pears. (5 minutes)

04

Step

In a small bowl, whisk together the heavy cream and amaretto liqueur until just combined. (2 minutes)

05

Step

Bake the pears in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and carefully pour the cream mixture evenly over the pears. Return to the oven and continue baking until the pears are tender and easily pierced with a fork, about 15 minutes more. (25 minutes)

06

Step

Let cool slightly before serving. Spoon some of the creamy sauce over each pear half when serving.

For an extra layer of flavor, try adding a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the sugar before sprinkling it over the pears.
Pears are best served warm, either on their own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of mascarpone cheese.
Feel free to experiment with different types of pears, such as Anjou or Bartlett, depending on your preference and availability.
If you don't have amaretto liqueur on hand, you can substitute with a teaspoon of almond extract for a similar flavor profile.
