Follow The Directions

01

Step
30 mins

Arrange the thawed dinner rolls in a 9x13-inch baking dish. Cover the dish loosely with plastic wrap and let the rolls rise in a warm place until they have doubled in size (approximately 30 minutes).

02

Step
3 mins

In a saucepan, combine 14 ounces of water, coconut milk, and sugar. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the remaining 1 ounce of water and cornstarch until smooth. Bring the coconut milk mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, then whisk in the cornstarch mixture. Reduce the heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens to your liking (about 3 minutes).

03

Step
0 mins

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Remove the plastic wrap from the risen rolls.

04

Step
10 mins

Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Then, carefully pour the coconut sauce over the rolls, ensuring that at least half of each roll is submerged. Return the rolls to the oven and continue baking until they are golden brown and cooked through (5 to 10 minutes more).

05

Step
5 mins

Let the Pani PoPo cool slightly in the baking dish for 3 to 5 minutes before serving warm. This allows the sauce to soak into the rolls a bit more.

For an extra touch of flavor, try adding a pinch of salt to the coconut milk sauce.
If you don't have time to let the rolls rise, you can use pre-made sweet rolls instead.
These are best served warm, but they are also delicious at room temperature.
Feel free to adjust the amount of sugar in the sauce to your liking.
