Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch cake pan. (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a large bowl, combine flour, eggs, sugar, melted butter, orange juice, orange zest, and baking powder. Mix with an electric mixer until the batter is smooth and light in color. (5 minutes)

03

Step

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. (40 minutes)

04

Step

Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 5 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack with a tray underneath to catch the drizzle. (5 minutes)

05

Step

While the cake is cooling, prepare the orange drizzle by whisking together ½ cup superfine sugar and ¼ cup orange juice in a small bowl. (2 minutes)

06

Step

Evenly pour the orange drizzle over the warm cake, allowing it to soak in. Let the cake cool completely before slicing and serving. (60 minutes)

For a deeper orange flavor, try using blood oranges or adding a few drops of orange extract.
Make sure your butter is melted but not hot to avoid cooking the eggs when mixing.
Feel free to experiment with other citrus fruits like lemons, limes, or grapefruits for a unique twist.
