For an even richer flavor, use dark chocolate cocoa powder. To prevent the cake from sticking, line the bottom of the pan with parchment paper. If you don't have buttermilk, you can make a substitute by adding 1 tablespoon of white vinegar or lemon juice to 1/2 cup of milk and letting it sit for 5 minutes. Feel free to experiment with different nuts in the frosting, such as walnuts or almonds.
