Follow The Directions

01

Step
2 mins

In a small bowl, dissolve the cornstarch in the brandy until smooth. Set aside. (2 minutes)

02

Step
1 mins

Combine the mixed berries, sugar, and honey in a medium saucepan over medium heat. (1 minute)

03

Step
6 mins

Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. (5-7 minutes)

04

Step
3 mins

Once boiling, add the cornstarch mixture to the saucepan. Stir constantly until the berries begin to break down and the compote thickens to your desired consistency. (2-3 minutes)

05

Step
1 mins

Remove from heat and let cool slightly. The compote will continue to thicken as it cools.

For a richer flavor, use aged balsamic vinegar instead of brandy.
Adjust the amount of sugar depending on the sweetness of your berries.
Compote can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
For a smoother compote, use an immersion blender to partially blend the mixture after cooking.

Absolutely delicious! The hint of brandy really elevates the flavor. I served it over pancakes and everyone loved it!

Easy to follow recipe and the compote turned out perfectly. I used frozen berries and it worked just as well.
